Read moreThe goal of Autostrada Wielkopolska SA is to provide a fast, safe and modern road connection. The initiatives undertaken by the company are crucial to maintaining the road infrastructure at the highest level, which translates into safety and comfort for drivers and positively affects the dynamics of economic growth, improving transportation and the development of companies and institutions that use this key route on a daily basis.
In 2024, Autostrada Wielkopolska SA began extending the 10-kilometer A2 section between the Poznań Krzesiny and Poznań Wschód interchanges by building a third lane in both directions. The works have been performed “under traffic conditions,” providing drivers with two lanes in each direction. This is another major investment by the company, following the extension of the 16 km route between the Poznań Zachód – Poznań Krzesiny interchanges completed in 2019. The total cost of expanding and upgrading the 26-kilometer section of the motorway between the Poznań Zachód and Poznań Wschód interchanges will exceed PLN 350 million.
In January 2025, videotolling system that recognizes license plates and allows in-app toll payment was launched between Poznań and Konin. This long-awaited solution increases travel convenience and reduces transaction time. Ultimately, videotolling is to cover the entire A2 Świecko – Konin section. Arrangements are being made with the public on this issue. The implementation of this solution involves adjusting the toll collection system, rebuilding the infrastructure at the Toll Plazas, and regular maintenance work, which requires an expenditure of about PLN 60 million.
At the same time, Autostrada Wielkopolska SA is involved in projects that improve traffic flow, safety and driver education. The initiatives underway include the installation of sectional speed measurement, additional BRD devices and a free driver training program that has already benefited more than two thousand drivers.
An additional factor affecting the scale of expenditures involves the investment and replacement obligations under the provisions of the concession agreement, including ongoing maintenance of the motorway infrastructure, namely repairs and rehabilitations.
Change in toll rates from 11 March 2025
Rising investment expenditures, servicing of financial obligations and increasing routine maintenance costs are driving up the Company’s operating expenses. In addition, continued rise in inflation, high interest rates and increased average remuneration in the economy directly affect the cost of financing projects and motorway maintenance.
Changed toll rates for driving in 150-kilometer concession section of the A2 Motorway will be implemented as of 11 March 2025. The toll rate effective as of 6:00 a.m. on that day for driving each of the three 50-kilometer sections of the motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin will amount to:
The cost of driving in A2 Świecko and Nowy Tomyśl section remains unchanged.
The concession section of the A2 motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin is not subsidized in any way by the public party. In addition, the toll rates quoted include 23 percent VAT, which means that this portion of the collected toll is paid to the state budget.
The 50 percent discount is maintained for class 6 vehicles (motorcycles) in the Nowy Tomyśl – Konin section of the A2 Motorway. The toll rate for motorcycles in the Świecko – Nowy Tomyśl section established by the Ministry of Infrastructure is the same as for passenger cars.
High quality service and smooth, safe transit
Autostrada Wielkopolska ensures safe trip and the highest standard service to travelers. This involves in particular:
Autostrada Wielkopolska SA and Autostrada Wielkopolska II SA are the companies responsible for the construction and operation of Poland’s longest concession motorway of 255 km, which is the largest investment under the Public-Private Partnership system in this part of Europe. The projects implemented by the two concession companies were timely completed within the budgets agreed with the public and banks, without EU subsidies and without funding from the State Treasury. The measures taken by the Companies are aimed not only at meeting concession requirements, but also at ensuring the comfort and safety of motorway users for years to come.
