The patrol vehicles monitoring the 24/7 concession section of the A2 motorway have also been equipped with these devices. This ensures that, in the event of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), drivers and other highway users have access to the necessary equipment that can save lives in a few crucial minutes.
In cases of sudden cardiac arrest, time is extremely important. When the heart stops pumping blood, we have 3 to 5 minutes to start resuscitation. After this time, irreversible changes occur in the patient’s brain. That is why it is so important to help as soon as possible, even before the arrival of the ambulance service. That’s why our investment in AED defibrillators is to provide quick and effective help at the most critical moments of your journey. We realize that even a few minutes of delay can make a huge difference, so we want to provide you with the highest level of safety and support. In addition, we have equipped the 24/7 motorway patrol vehicles with such devices to provide assistance even faster, including in situations where the sufferer is outside the MOP.
The AED defibrillators have been placed in easily accessible locations at our MOPs and are provided with simple instructions so that even those without prior training can provide the necessary assistance.
Each life-saving kit, located on Rest and Service Areas restroom buildings at the MOP, consists of a two-phase semi-automatic defibrillator (AED) with an integrated pediatric mode and electrodes. The defibrillators are placed in special AED cabinets, equipped with a light alarm, night illumination and a heating module activated in winter and a cooling system for summer.
AED defibrillators are monitored, located in special cabinets communicated with the Highway Management Center, among others. Every time a cabinet is opened and a defibrillator removed, it is recorded and checked by highway patrols. This is in order to protect travelers even more effectively and ensure their safety.
In a situation where someone needs our help and the use of a defibrillator, we don’t have to worry that we won’t know where to start. Each defibrillator is equipped with voice instructions and guides the rescuer step by step, analyzing the patient’s condition.
Remember that in a situation where you are waiting for the arrival of the ambulance to someone who has lost consciousness, giving help to the victim and starting defibrillation within 3-5 minutes of losing consciousness increases his chances of survival by as much as 70%. In contrast, each minute of delay in starting defibrillation reduces these chances by 10%.
We hope that critical life-threatening situations never occur, but in the event of an emergency, we want to be sure you have access to the best pre-medical care. Your safety and comfort are of the utmost importance to us, so we take every measure to ensure that you have a peaceful and safe trip.
